-----Inexpensive Powder coating unit

hello we manufacture a wide range of steel brackets. We paint them with the dip and drip method,but would like to use a powder coat system.there are no facilities in our immediate area & the lowest estimate of a system is way out of range for the volume of product we produce.
Is there a low cost unit on the market or plans available to build a system? thank you
Peter CourticeHi Pete, What exactly are you looking to do? Are you looking to try powder? Generally speaking, powder installations are not cheap. I would suggest you look at some of the used suppliers of equipment and maybe talk to new suppliers about cost factors. The suppliers may be able to retrofit your booth or a booth to suit your needs. Are you presently pretreating your substrates now? It really makes no sense to apply powdercoat without proper pretreatment. If you make the change to powder, upgrade your system and sell the quality of your investment. It sounds as though quantity limits you from sending these parts to a paint shop. Many shops start this way and if you look hard enough, you will find used components you need to apply and cure powder. Its well worth the cost and you can job time out to help pay for the system or make additional money. My advise is whatever you do, design the system with quality in mind or your end product will be no different than your previous dip method.

Two things come to mind.
- The first, Thermoplastics done in a small area in your shop.
There are several different sizes of fluidizing beds as well as heavier duty guns. Add very clean compressed air, Propane, and the low cure temp product of your choice, and your coating. Might cost you $10,000.00 to get trained and your equipement but the finish is second only to powder coating in a shop.
- The second would be sending the parts out as hot work to a powder coating facility, we're not as pricey as you may think.
