-----Sulphamate nickel plating over chrome
We are trying to plate SN over hard chrome. It seems to be a hit and miss trial. The problem we have is adhesion. We are using a Woods Nickel Strike and electro clean. When we plate the nickel it always looks good. When we put the chrome over top it sometimes pulls the nickel off the substrate. I know we have a bonding problem with the nickel to the substrate not a problem with the chrome to the nickel. Has anyone got any suggestions I need help

Try using a cathodic activation in approx. 10% H2SO4 Between Electroclean and Wood's Ni.Make sure that the electroclean is done cathodically. We use these similar pretreatment steps over chrome to plate Ni. on a regular basis although we are using a brush plating process.Hope this helps
